Rolling into Olympia, Washington, we continued our pattern of staying with friends from my days at Smith College.  Anyone who knows me even slightly knows how much I absolutely loved Smith and how much I love my friends from Smith.  Apparently, the love doesn’t go one way.  Our incredibly generous friends Sarah and Scott (and their lovely and energetic sons, Emerson and Elliot) invited us to stay for an extended period.  They hosted us for a record eight nights.  Yes, you read that right – EIGHT nights!  They should be sainted.

It was so incredibly wonderful to have a bed to sleep in, a shower to use, access to laundry facilities, and to not have to worry about the weather.  But more than that, Sarah and Scott are a walking party.  Literally.  We haven’t socialized that much since…I can’t even remember!  We attended a total of four parties that week…

‘Elk Fest’ Still Happening In Estes Park This Weekend

ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) – Businesses in Estes Park want everyone to know the town is open for business despite the two main highways being closed.

The town took a big financial hit from the floods and now Estes Park leaders are trying to get the word out that Elk Fest is still scheduled for this weekend.

Visitors need to get to the town from Trail Ridge Road or up the Peak-To-Peak Highway.

Rocky Mountain National Park is waiving entrance fees on Saturday.

ODU wins first home Big East game

Historic Church in Benton County Goes Up In Flames

An historic church in Northwest Arkansas caught fire early Friday evening.

Fire crews responded to the scene at Tucks Chapel in Benton County around 7 p.m.

Half of the chapel suffered extensive damage.

No one was inside the church at the time, and no injuries have been reported.

No information on what caused the fire. The investigation will continue Saturday morning.

CLASSIC CARS: Auction Features ‘New’ Autos

The day classic car buyers have been counting down to for months dawns on Saturday.

Hundreds of vintage cars, some of them never driven, will go up for sale in Pierce, NE.

The cars are owned by Ray Lambrecht, a retired owner of a Chevy dealership.

Many of the cars are rusted relics that have been stored in a field but some are true rarities.

Lambrecht would keep unsold vehicles in storage to make room for the next year’s models.

Those cars, including classics from the 1960’s, have still never been driven.

The auction could bring in more than $1-million.
